Secondary students are taking part in two exciting international trips this week, 24 Year 7 & 8 students have been taking part in the FOBISIA U13 games in Thailand where they have enjoyed success in athletics, swimming, basketball (where both teams won bronze medals in their competition) and football.

In what we believe may be a first for TBS, we have two year 10 students on a school trip to Africa, where they are representing TBS at a girls’ leadership conference hosted by Green Hills Academy, Rwanda. They are working hard on Leadership projects ready for a Dragon’s Den style pitch at the end of the week, but as you can see they are also having the opportunity to enjoy some more recreational activities!

Closer to home, the Leading Linguists have worked so hard before and during the half term for the Lunar New Year Celebration Assembly for the whole secondary. They made a video about the dos and don’ts during the Lunar New Year in Chinese culture. After showing the video, there was an interactive quiz and a challenging but fun karaoke “Gongxi Gongxi” (Congratulations)! If you would like to see their video please click on the link here. It was also delightful to see the Y10 Mandarin class take the initiative to lead part of the assembly and teach some Mandarin phrases. Xiexie Maya, Ghazal, Triral, Kaustubh and Vivaan! led by our leading linguists.

Year 12 and 13 parent teacher consultations on Tuesday provided an opportunity to reflect on mock exam results and focus attention on the preparation needed for the final exams this summer. Alongside our usual activity programme there is now an extensive programme of exam support classes running after school available for candidate class students to attend.

On Saturday, a group of students from our Zonta club are attending the Flowing Forward Festival at Lincoln School aimed at promoting menstrual health amongst young people in Nepal. Our students will be leading one of the workshops entitled “Be the change: Fundraising, Policy Renewal, and Awareness within our Community” and  sharing their experience of the work they are doing in the weekly TBS Zonta club.

Next week we are hosting NISSA girls football and boys basketball afterschool on Tuesday and Thursday, the Year 9, 11-13 Careers Carousel on Thursday and the prefects are organising the Key Stage 5 ball on Thursday evening. Next Saturday the NISSA teams take part in the league finals, with TBS hosting the girls football. Both the boys basketball teams and the girls football teams would really value plenty of TBS community support at these fixtures.

Thank you to those parents who have confirmed that their child/children will be leaving TBS at the end of the term, i.e.Friday 22nd March 2024. Adequate notice is a requirement and avoids financial penalties for parents.  It also allows us to refund your security deposits on time and helps us to plan ahead for the new term.

The deadline for providing the formal notice of the withdrawal of your child/children is Wednesday 28th February 2024. The notice of withdrawal can be provided either by email or written letter to Ms. Manisha Bajracharya at the admission office.

After submitting the notice of withdrawal, parents will receive a clearance form to complete the withdrawal procedure nearer the end of Term 3. Please let Ms. Bajracharya in the admissions office know should you require any school documents/references to provide to the new school.

Late notice of withdrawal (or providing no notice) and failure to submit the form or return the school’s resources may fully or partially affect refunding the security deposit.
